Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney

HI there! Sorry I've been gone for so long. Super slack of me. Lots of plans in progress at the Confetti Sisters :)
In the meantime, a couple of weeks ago I went to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Sydney.

I love seeing great work from Australian designers. This Spring fashion in Australia means plenty of neutrals, as well as large, bold floral prints.

I love celebrating Australian designers. We have so much talent in this country. Some of my favourite Aussie designers include Bec & Bridge, Alice McCall, Rebecca Vallance, Zimmerman, Toni Maticevski, there are more but you'll find that out as we go :)
(note: not all of these designers were showcased at mbff).

This post is very photo heavy, enjoy the pretty pictures!

30 Day Fashion Challenge

Hello spring we've missed you!! And hello to all our confetti sisters! Welcome to the first day of spring and welcome to the first day of a spring cleaning challenge I'm kicking off this month. I'm attempting a 30 day shopping detox inspired by Leigh Campbell of The Daily Coverage

Leigh set herself the challenge of not buying a single item of clothing for 30 days and not wearing the same outfit twice. Like this fashion loving blogger I always seem to have nothing to wear yet my wardrobe is bursting with unworn clothes. So here I go...

Here are the rules: wear each piece of clothing in your wardrobe without repeating for 30 days. Now there are some exceptions for staples, Leigh has included bags and shoes in this, but I'm also going to add black jeans (cause these are a base for a lot of my outfit combinations). So I'm going to allow these, along with shoes to be repeated up to four times each.

Also, and this is a biggie, but I'm not allowed to buy any clothes during this time eekk! haha this will be a good thing, not only for my bank account but also to actually wear the clothes I have more than once. If I find that I don't wear an item during this time cause I don't like it then out it goes!
Side note: I never actually throw my clothes in the bin, unless it's really old and worn. I always donate them to op shops then someone else can at least enjoy wearing them :)

The outcome of this challenge is to utilise every item in your wardrobe, because I'm not sure about you but it feels like I wear the same clothes over and over.

I'll keep you up to date by posting my daily outfits each week. If you want to take on the challenge too let me know in the comments section or on Facebook and share your photos with us!!

Here's some of my outfit inspo for week one...

Happy spring

Almost healthy smoothie :)

Hi there Confetti Sisters its Maddie here. This is not my usual blog post and I cant promise you that I will do one like this again.

I have been wanting to make this smoothie I found on Pinterest for about a month. I am obsessed with oats but kinda don't like porridge that much. So when I found this recipe I was stoked.

How yummy does this look. Well I am sure I am not the only one...But I went to gather my ingredients and sadly I only had oats and sugar... So I thought I would improvise.

My Recipe for Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie

1.5 Handfulls of Raspberries

2 Cups of Almond Milk

3 Table Spoons of Vanilla Ice-cream

1 Cup of Rolled Oats

1.5 Tablespoons of Raw Sugar

After I gathered my substitute ingredients I chucked those bad boys in the blender. Now because my Raspberries were not fresh they had a bit of ice on them from the freezer so it became a bit of a slushie. When this happened I just added a tincie more Almond Milk.

Honest Almond Milk is my fave. I do not really use it that much because I am nervous I will use it in something and turn it gross... Like Milo or something hahaha. But when I have used it, its been amazing. So give it a go. I DARE YOU :)

Here is what mine turned out like. They were super yummy :) The glasses/mugs/jars were just from KMart for only $2. I might go get some more because they are super cute.

Until next time Confetti Sisters.

Winter Warmers

Dressing in winter doesn't need to be hard. The hard part is getting out of bed when it's -1 degrees outside and the heater hasn't kicked in yet ugh! Bring back summer I say...but there's no getting out of it, so might as well make the most of the cold weather by dressing to impress.
There's a huge difference between wearing what you want and wearing what will keep you warm. I used to make the mistake of dressing in whatever the heck I wanted without taking into consideration the climate I was in. I didn't like coats cause they were too bulky and you have to remove it and cart it around when you got inside. This resulted in many a cold and freezing my butt off wherever I went. BUT you don't have to suffer anymore. Here are just a few of my favourite winter inspo outfits that I've invested in for this winter.

A coat...number one!

A coat is the most important investment for the colder months. Especially if you live in a freezing climate like me. Brrr. I suggest you do spend some money on a good quality coat. One that will give you warmth, being comfortable is a must and spending money on a good coat will hopefully mean that it'll last you through a couple of seasons. If this is the case make sure you go for a classic colour, like your traditional black (always a safe bet), dark grey or a nice beige or caramel colour. With that said it's always best to have more than one coat in your cupboard so that you can have some fun with different colours and patterns as the seasons dictate styles and trends.

Here are my picks.

Experiment with a cape. I'm on the look out for the perfect one :)

Classic black. You can never go wrong.

Go for a splash of colour. They don't need to be full length either, you can have coats of all different lengths.

I actually own this one :)

Knits!

I love em~ can't get enough.
I'm so glad they are now acceptable to wear outside of the house ;)

They don't have to be neutral colours either. Colour is still all the rage so why don't you try matching a coloured knit with a fun print.

Boots

Boots are a must in winter when you spend any more than 5 minutes outside. I have about a 10 minute walk to work from my car in the mornings and evenings when the day is at its coldest. When I wear flats my feet FAH-REEZE! But when i'm wearing my boots it's the dream! This season i've only really been into ankle boots.

Scarves & Hats ~ the bigger the better!

Hats aren't as essential but a scarf can be the difference between being super cold and comfortable. Especially when it's windy. I have a pretty big scarf collection in all different colours, textures and sizes. One to go with pretty much any outfit.

Me in my winter hat :)

These scarves are all neutral but don't be afraid to wear a bright colour. Especially if your outfit is all black or plain or neutral it is easy to throw on a coloured scarf to brighten up your outfit. Doing this will also lift your mood on a dreary winters day.
